Helping children in Casa de Amparo

This holiday season I finally made a decision to do something that I've always wanted to do; HELP children in need.  I had heard about this place called Casa de Amparo 3 years ago thru our church ( New Song ) and always wanted to donate or volunteer my time,  but unfortunately life got so busy.  This time, I made a promise, especially after speaking to the director of Casa de Amparo and got more information about their mission.  It touched my heart and I knew I could help a little bit with the help of my friends. I ask Oceanside Team Quest to help me out, and with help of Pamela and Bryan Harper, the owners ( AMAZING PEOPLE ) of Team Quest, things finally came to life.  We have drop box at the front door of the Team Quest Oceanside Facility at:

318 Horne St, Oceanside, CA 92054  you can contact me at 619-227-7522

Donations needed:  new toys, new clothes, and school supplies. For clothes: sizes 18 months to 6 years for both boys and girls. PLEASE ,No used or open items!
DROP OFF DEADLINE - DEC 15, 2011

Thank you all so much!

ABOUT Casa de Amparo

Child Abuse and Neglect is a serious problem—nationally, statewide and in our own community. In fact, San Diego’s child abuse incident rate is higher than the state average.
San Diego County’s Child Abuse Hotline receives about 75,000 calls annually regarding suspected abuse. Researchers estimate that for every reported incident, 4 others go unreported.  Child Abuse cuts across all socio-economic groups, races and religions.
The good news is that the state, the county and concerned and caring people of San Diego are actively addressing the challenge of child abuse. In over 30 years of commitment to this important cause, we at Casa de Amparo have seen over and over that with our help, abused and at-risk children can stop the cycle of abuse. They can heal, grow and create bright futures that will ultimately affect their own families and the future of our communities.
OUR MISSION
To support those affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect, through a range of programs and services that promote healing, growth and healthy relationships.

Dear Photography, Should I stay or should I go???

I think, everyone has their ups and downs in this industry and sadly I had mine.  I though of quitting and giving up what I love to do even though I know in my heart I cannot imagine not having my camera on my hands and I will go nuts if I don't get my ideas out in photography and won't be able to breath because camera is one of the oxygen tank next to me. Sadly I am very hurt with a lot of people in Fashion World, been taken advantage with a lot of people so freaking many times and just watching everyone  hurting each other.  SAD isn't it? is this what I wanted?? and my answer is "NO" But do I love photography? and my answer is "HECK YES" so then I can fight all this B.S  and I will learn how to ignore the negative and channel myself into the positive side of it.  Today I decided to stay as a stronger person, focus and better... I can do this...  I believe that if you love what you do, you can face anything with the guidance of the BIG GUY!

Stay tuned for my very first photograph in Jan 1, 2008

It's about me now...

I guess I have never really introduced myself properly nor even talked about how I got my start in photography.  New Year's Eve 2008, the very first time I picked up a camera and shot a landscape photo without one of my children in it... But before we even get started down that road, let me give you a little bit more about me.
I am just a simple stay at home mom with 3 children.  I have a background in music and art that let me travel all over Asia.  I was a singer with a band and went from Manila to Indonesia and Japan and more.   My life settled down quite a bit when I met my husband.  We were married in 1998.
Since having children, I was always searching for a way to scratch my artistic itch while still spending time with my kids at the same time.  I started making handmade cards as a small get away for my artistic mind until it became a small business.  I enjoyed it and I could make my own schedule to spend time with my husband and my children.  But knowing myself I started searching for more.  I wanted to evolve the business into something more.  I knew myself and I knew something was missing.
Then, in late 2007, I realized that photos could be used to complement the cards.  I was too afraid to even touch a camera at that time unless it was for a family photo or special event in my family.  People were always saying that I had and an eye for art but it never occurred to me that I had an eye for photography.  There were no photographers in my family so I had a lot to learn and experiment with. That's when New Years Eve 2008 came along and I shot my very first photo, a landscape shot ... I WAS HOOKED!

Stay tuned for pix from that first shoot and the ups and downs I've experienced along the way...
